RIA Security Under Fire

As it is said that a stitch in time is better than nine, the chair of the Board of Directors of the Liberia Airports Authority has sternly warned security personnel at Roberts International Airport against misconduct, including harassment of business people using the airport.

LAA board chair, Mr. Musa Bility sounded the warning as he inducted RIA’s new management team Tuesday.

“Stop harassing business people. These people have families that they need to feed on a daily basis; and so we cannot afford to use this place as harassment ground,” Mr. Bility stressed, and called for synchronizing of the various security details assigned at the airport.

He suggested that synchronizing security details at the airport “would allow straight adherence and uniformity in the command structure and also help to avoid too many security personnel chasing a single function.”

“We want to direct the attention of the Ministry of Justice, the police and immigration to this issue…and this is something that we need to handle quickly,” Mr. Bility emphasized.t

Earlier, the new Managing Director of RIA, Mr. Julius A. Dennis, thanked President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for his preferment and praised the outgoing managing team headed by James E. Ebanks for the foundation he laid at the airport, and promised to improve upon it.
