A resident of West Point, Garrison Chea, 29,
was on Tuesday charged with armed robbery and rape before being sent at the Monrovia Central Prison pending court trial.
Police charge sheet revealed that on 31 May Ms. Maverline Koto along with several residents of Airfield Lakpazee reported to police alleging they were armed robbed by some unidentified men.
Complainant Koto alleged the criminal suspects forcibly entered their homes between 1:00 and 1:15 am with a single barrel pistol gun and other deadly weapons.
The victim said the men placed them under gunpoint and threatened to kill as they took away cell phones, a digital camera and laptops estimated to cost about US$5,000.
Ms. Koto said three attackers raped one of the victims before they fled the scene.
Meanwhile, suspect Garrison Chea has admitted committing the crime on 31 May, saying he did so because he needed money to take his ailing daughter to hospital.
Based on the suspect’s voluntary statement of admission, police said he was charged with armed robbery and rape in violation of Chapter 15, Section 15.32 of the criminal law of Liberia.
