Tubman Shoots Back At Teahjay
The political leader of the main opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Thursday strongly rejected a statement by Sinoe County Supt. Milton Teahjay that Liberia will “erupt into crisis if the CDC ever wins state power”.
“I totally disagree with him,” the political leader of CDC, Cllr. Winston Tubman told this paper Thursday, when contacted.
“The CDC is a respectable, popular and effective grassroots party. If we ever come to power, the CDC will have the support of the Liberian populace,” Cllr. Tubman asserted.
A local daily quoted Mr. Teahjay, who was suspended from the CDC for declaring support to President Johnson-Sirleaf, as saying, “Liberia will erupt into crisis if the CDC wins state power in 2018”.
According to the report, Mr. Teahjay suggested that the CDC is incapable of providing political leadership in Liberia because “the party lacks political stability”.
In rejecting Teahjay’s criticism, Cllr. Tubman said preparations are underway for the CDC to hold its national convention soon where responsible and capable candidates will be elected to guide and steer the party into the future.
Another key official of the CDC referred to Teahjay’s statement as “irresponsible.” He has the right to say what’s on his mind; but I think my brother’s statement is very irresponsible.”
