Pen-Pen Boys In Trouble
In reaction to apparent tip-offs about criminal activities, police chief Col. Chris Massaquoi has sternly warned motorcyclists to avoid being used by suspected criminals to terrorize peaceful citizens in the country and strictly instructed traffic police officers to arrest any motorcyclists riding with slippers on.
He observed that since motorbikes were added as commercial transport in Liberia, law enforcement officers have continued to receive complaints that suspected criminals frequently used commercial bikes to terrorize the homes of people during night hours.
Col. Massaquoi issued the warning on Friday, urging the Motorcycle Union to work with its members in all 15 counties to ensure that basic traffic regulations, including the wearing of helmets and reflective jackets, are observed in keeping with law.
“The police will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any motorcyclist who engages in criminal activities,” the police inspector general stressed.
“You motorcyclists have to live in conformity with the law as well as ensure that your safety gear including helmet, reflective jacket and sneakers are properly on before joining the traffic,” Col. Massaquoi emphasized.
