The former police chief, Mrs. Beatrice Munah Sieh Brown, has been ordered arrested for allegedly failing to order about US200,000 worth of uniforms for the police Emergency Response Unit (ERU).

Authoritative sources told this paper Tuesday that the former police chief, the first woman police boss in the country, and her accomplices will face trial on charges of economic sabotage, criminal facilitation and criminal conspiracy.

“They have already been indicted and it is just a matter of time for them to be booked”, our source said.

The Ministry of Justice had shelved the case on contention that it lacked evidence for a trial and convictions.

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) that has been pursuing the case, contacted for comment, declined.

The former police chief allegedly received the money from the Ministry of Finance but failed to order the uniforms, according to sources.

Two Finance Ministry employees—Kaymah Zeon and Nebo Garlo—have already been arrested in connection with the deal, sources say.

Others to be picked up are a Nigerian businessman, Prince Arimene, and Mr. Harry Dunn of the Liberia National Police (LNP) listed as the ex-police chief’s alleged accomplices also ordered arrested.
