Read More...NOCAL Employees Charged With U$15,000 Theft
Employees Leroy Johnson, Ernest W. Kollie and Melvilee N. Grigsby of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) were remanded to the Monrovia central prison pending court trial after they were booked for allegedly stealing over US$15,000 from NOCAL.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) booked three on Monday before they were charged for theft of property and forgery.
Co-defendant J.C. Boy, Thomas Wesshen and Dester Waiygbeh were charged in absentia based upon “irresistible material evidence linking them”.
Law enforcement officers investigated the three NOCAL employees based a complaint filed by NOCAL Senior Vice President, Ms. Marie Leigh Parker that the defendants stolen a check #A00001450 bearing account #001-11347002-38-602 of the company.
Ms. Parker claimed that the defendants forged her signature and that of Viga A. Mensah on the check before bank securities arrested while attempting to exchange if for cash.
The NBI charge sheet indicates that the defendants admitted to committing the act in violation of chapter 15, Sub-Chapter D. Section 15.51 and Sub-Chapter E. Section 15.70 of the penal code of Liberia.
