I Never Killed My Girlfriend

Defendant James Kesselly who is on trial for allegedly killing his girlfriend Marwwoi James Wednesday said “he never killed my girlfriend” after the indictment was read to him at the Temple of Justice for the murder of the woman.

The state indicted Mr. James Kesselly in November 2012 for allegedly killing his lover Marwwoi James in the Rockspring Valley Community, Capital Bypass, Monrovia.

His plea of not guilty clearly means that he has joined issues with the state to prove the case against him beyond all reasonable doubt in keeping with law.

According to his two page-indictment on November 4, 2012 while the defendant and victim were in bed, she sustained a deep cut across her left breast as result of a sharp knife allegedly used by her boyfriend.

It said the victim began to bleed and was rushed to JKF hospital where she was pronounced dead at 5:00 am by doctors.

Before taking his plea, Kesselly took few minutes to weep in a packed courtroom attended by his relatives and those of his former girlfriend.

The victim’s relatives refused to comment. But Esther Kesselly and Patience Kesselly who are believed to be brother to the defendant in separate statement said they were saddened over their brother’s incident.

Esther Kesselly: “I just can’t believe that my brother allegedly killed his girlfriend whom he loved dearly. But we look to God for mercy on him.”

Patience Kesselly: “I’m just speechless and don’t know what to say but really feel for him especially for a crime like murder.”
